Fifth man being questioned in Oldham murder investigation

A fourth man arrested in connection with the murder of a teenager in Oldham has been released under investigation.

A fifth man, aged 20, is being questioned by detectives after voluntarily attending a police station last night (Monday 17 February 2020).

Two 21-year-old men and a 20-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder on Sunday 16 February 2020 have been bailed.

It comes after a 19-year-old man was stabbed to death in Oldham during the early hours of Sunday 16 February 2020.

He has been named locally as Ahsan Khan who was jailed in 2016 for the false imprisonment and torture of a 16-year-old boy.

Officers were called shortly before 4.30am to reports of a stabbing on Cheviot Avenue after a fight involving a small group of men. 

Emergency services attended the scene and the 19-year-old was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He was pronounced dead a short time later. 

A scene remains in place on Cheviot Avenue.
