Saddleworth churches are to remain closed until mid-February, says Rev Canon Sharon Jones.
In a note to parishioners, she said: “Following meetings of the seven Parochial Church Councils in the Saddleworth Benefice, we have decided to suspend public worship in all our churches until mid-February at the earliest.
“We recognise that for some this will be a sad and bitter disappointment, but after due consideration and discussion, became convinced that this was the wisest and most responsible course of action.
“We will continue our online provision and encourage everyone to engage in whatever way they can, and to demonstrate pastoral care for those whose emotional and mental needs are considerable.
"We pray for our community and trust in God, our strength and our hope."
Churches are still open online. Please log on to: cofeinsaddleworth.org.uk
