Grandpa Greene's was ordered to close at weekends
A Diggle cafe which was prevented from trading at weekends by Oldham Council is back to operating full-time..
Grandpa Green's in Diggle was ordered to stay closed at weekends earlier this month following concerns over large numbers of people "congregating around the site and not social distancing".
The council were particularly concerned about the weekend trade, as people were travelling in to the area to use the cafe for takeaway food and drink.
Owner Rick Scholes said he was grateful to both staff and customers.
"We would like to thank our amazing staff for their unbelievable efforts throughout what has been a very difficult few weeks for our business.
"Every member of our team has worked incredibly hard to ensure we can safely operate and keep our business alive. Our staff have given their all, day in day out to safely serve our loyal customers & we are forever grateful
"Finally thank you to you our amazing customers, without your continued support we wouldn’t have survived these difficult times, so to you we are forever grateful."
The decision was reversed yesterday by the authority, and the business is now reverting to operating 7 days a week between 9 and 5.
