Oldham care leavers are set to benefit – thanks to a Chadderton firm’s kind donations.

Oldham after care service are currently working with 200 young people aged between 18-25.

It can be really challenging for any young person living alone, but for some care leavers the challenges of independent living can come at a very early stage in their adult lives.

Chadderton firm Ultimate Products have made things a little bit easier with the donation of thousands of pounds worth of key household items - from suitcases to ironing boards, from pots and pans to kettles.

Ultimate Products are a global retail firm based in Chadderton with strong working relationships with 300 retailers in 38 countries.

The donated goods are items used at trade shows and are part of the company’s community charity giving.

Cllr Mohon Ali, who was on hand to collect the items in behalf of Oldham Council, said: "While all our care leavers have access to a grant under Oldham’s local offer, which provides financial assistance when setting up home – we are always looking for support and pledges from our local business to help.

“Ultimate Products, a very successful local business, has gifted lots of really useful items.

"We are so grateful for this support for our amazing care leavers in Oldham.

"It means so much to know that our young people are truly at the centre of the community’s charity giving.”

Andrew Gossage, Managing Director of Ultimate Products, said: “We are very proud of being a successful company from Oldham and we are always keen to help out our local communities.

“We all want to help people, particularly at this very difficult time and we, as a company, like to see the difference we can make to local people.”
