Limeside fatal stabbing - pair arrested

Two men have been arrested as part of an investigation in the death of a man in Limeside.

Police were called shortly after 5.05pm on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 to a report of a disturbance involving a group of men causing damage to a property on Fifth Avenue.

During the disturbance, 25-year-old Charlie Elms was fatally stabbed.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two men, aged 17 and 19, were arrested on Saturday (May 29) on suspicion of violent disorder and criminal damage. 

A third man, aged 25, who presented himself at a police station on Friday (May 28), has been charged with violent disorder and criminal damage.

Detective Chief Inspector Carl Jones, of GMP's Major Incident Team, said: "Our investigation into this incident very much remains ongoing and we're appealing to anyone who may hold information that could assist our enquiries to speak with police.

"We now have a dedicated incident portal for the public to upload information so I would urge anyone who holds information or footage to do so as a matter of urgency."
