Luke's ultramarathon heroics help raise almost £4k for New Bridge School

Local business owner Luke Sugden recently completed an ultramarathon, where he ran a full 50 mile course over the Yorkshire Three Peaks, raising much-needed funds for New Bridge School.

Luke, who is the owner of Fire Blocked 365 and LCS Eco Build, said: “I wasn’t much of a runner before Christmas, but I decided to take on the massive challenge to support the fundraising efforts of New Bridge Fund."

Luke smashed his target of £3,000 and his contribution helps New Bridge to continue their offer of sending the young people on life-changing trips to places like Disneyland.

Luke visited New Bridge School to hand over a cheque for £3,822.

He was welcomed by students, CEO Clare John, Execuive Director Shirley Woods-Gallagher and Headteacher Alison Tootill, who showed Luke round the school and introduced him to some more of the students.

"It was quite emotional to be welcomed like that," Luke said.

The students who met Luke were full of enthusiasm for his ultramarathon adventure.

Luke isn't sure what comes next, but it might involve a little less running!
