A scene from the rescue incident at Birchen Clough
Ten members of Oldham Mountain Rescue Team were alerted on Saturday afternoon by the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust about a female who had sustained an ankle injury climbing down Birchen Clough in Saddleworth.
Team vehicles were quickly dispatched to the location where the casualty was assessed by one of the team’s Remote Rescue Medical Technicians (RRMT).
Following immobilisation of the injured ankle, the casualty was placed in the team vehicle and transported down the valley, where they were then transferred to an NWAS ambulance for the onward journey to hospital.
OMR Team members were involved for one-and-a-half hours.
