The fun and tongue in cheek MC Grammar persona was created by award-winning teacher Jacob Mitchell, who trains hundreds of teachers each year in the UK, and whose resources are used by up to 25,000 children each day in 17 countries.
With schools currently closed, and ahead of 'Thank a Teacher Day' tomorrow (Wednesday), MC Grammar was contacted by multiple parents and teachers asking for his advice on making lessons at home fun and engaging.
So, Jacob decided to bring his positive energy and unique teaching approach to YouTube, running two live lessons a week - every Tuesday and Thursday at 10am
The aim of the channel is to make learning fun and inclusive for kids and inspire children to read and love books, for all of the incredible magic they possess.
Each lesson is linked to one of the national curriculum grammar and punctuation objectives, varying from ages 6-11 (Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2).
Kids between these ages can rap along at home, breaking down the lyrics with their parents, to apply them to the text, book or topics that they are studying.
This way they learn, without even knowing - it's fast and fun.
In the coming weeks MC Grammar will rhyme over fresh beats and melodies about the following topics at 10am each Tuesday and Thursday:
This week, commencing May 18: Inverted Commas / Speech Marks (KS2 focussed)
W/C May 25: Apostrophes (KS2 focussed)
Every Tuesday of the week MC Grammar will drop a new song and kids can rap along to the fresh and fun lesson, and then there will be a task to do for lesson two on the following Thursday.
Thursday’s lessons will include a task check-in/answers and review, a rap game lesson, live book raps, Grammar Gang shout-outs and competitions and giveaways.
