Latics lost 2-0 at home against Boreham Wood
Latics' recent upturn in fortunes was checked by National League play-off chasers Boreham Wood at Boundary Park.
Luke Garrard's visitors scored twice in the final 10 minutes to keep their National League promotion drive on course with an impressive win.
Zak Brunt and Femi Ilesanmi had gone close during the first half for the visitors, who were looking for a third straight league win.
Brunt then saw a first-time effort hit the post on the hour mark, before midfielder Jack Payne finally broke the deadlock in the 82nd minute with a long-range effort.
Substitute Dennon Lewis made sure of victory when he nodded in a second in the final minute as the visitors moved into the play-off places.
Latics boss David Unsworth said: "We went for it and got caught.
"I'm not going to stand here and have a go at the lads, absolutely not, we were really good and on another day we would have won the game."
Latics return to action on Tuesday with a home fixture against Woking.
