As the investigation continues, investigators believe the man got on a bus in Manchester city centre and travelled into Oldham.
It is believed the man approached the victim’s address and pushed his way in demanding for the victim’s bank cards and pin codes whilst holding a weapon. The man is then alleged to have committed a serious assault against the victim and fled the address.
The man was captured on CCTV after the incident wearing a hi-vis vest and officers would like to speak to him as they believe he can assist their investigation.
Detective Inspector Terina Arthern, of our Oldham Division, said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for an elderly victim to go through. The victim has been safeguarded by specially-trained officers at this time.
“We understand the concern an incident such as this will cause the local community, but our investigation is progressing. Extra officers will be deployed to the local area – please speak to them if you have any concerns of information to share.
