Man arrested in connection with pub attack

Police investigating an assault at a pub in Denton have arrested a man.

A 33-year-old man attended a Police Station and was arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault.

He has been assisting officers with enquiries and has been released under investigation whilst enquires continue.

Police were called shortly after 9.20pm on Saturday, November 24, to a report that a man had been punched at the Jolly Hatters pub on Town Lane, Denton.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Detective Constable Jo Lockett of GMP’s Tameside Division said: “We’d like to thank members of the public for assisting us with this investigation.

“We are pleased that the victim appears to be making good progress in his recovery.”
