The Mossley event raising a spoon and cash for local projects

Date published: 23 October 2023

Thursday, November 2 sees the return of Mossley SOUP at Emmaus Mossley, the town’s 15th community crowdfunding dinner.

Mossley SOUP aims to bring the community together to raise awareness, funds and support for groups, projects and new ideas within the town.

The organising team are appealing for people to attend the next event, to give their support and vote for one of four projects.

For a recommended minimum donation of £5, diners receive a bowl of freshly made soup, hear four short project presentations and a vote for their favourite project.

Each presenter has four minutes to share their project, followed by four questions from the audience.

The group, project or idea to secure the most votes receives all of the money raised on the door.

Since launching in 2017, Mossley SOUP events have raised between £545 and £1,726 for each of the winning projects.

Previous winning presentations were delivered by Mossley Community Centre, Mossley Social Club for Disabled Adults, Micklehurst Cricket Club Junior Section and George’s Den.

All groups, projects and ideas presented at Mossley SOUP can also benefit in other ways, such as increased public awareness, new volunteers, donations of materials and other offers of financial support.

For event attendees, it’s a chance to find out what’s happening within Mossley, connect with fellow residents and help to make a positive impact.

The 15th Mossley SOUP dinner, sponsored by Premier Kia, will take place on Thursday, November 2 from 6.15pm at Emmaus Mossley.

As well as the four short presentations, the fun and inspiring event also includes live entertainment and a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses.

Mossley SOUP is organised by volunteers with support from Emmaus Mossley, The Vale and a range of local businesses.
