Westwood Bazaar has the community at its heart

Date published: 23 December 2020

In the late 1990’s, Foiz Khan’s late father, Jahir Uddin Khan, had the idea to open a grocery store that would serve and cater for the community.

As a local businessman he was very brave and always wanted to serve the community that was near and dear to him.

Not so long after, however, his beloved father passed away.

Unable to fulfil his dream he and his siblings took on the task to do just that, and made a big decision to open their first grocery store called Westwood Bazaar.

Priding themselves on the back of the reputation and respect of their father had already built for himself in the community, Westwood Bazaar opened its doors early 2000.

Fast forward 20 years to 2020, and now Foiz and his extended family and some friends have opened a brand-new supermarket in the heart of Westwood, thanks to the help of main fit-out contractor, Jordon Group.

Staff held a community soft launch with local leaders, business owners and family and friends of Westwood Bazaar.

All guests who attended were given a guided tour of the supermarket and served a light meal.

Leading up to the grand opening, a trolley sweep competition was held on social media where five lucky winners were given the opportunity to fill up their trolleys in 60 seconds and take the items home for free.

More than £500 worth of goods were given away.

The new site boasts more than 4,000 sq ft and os fully fitted out so customers can enjoy a clean, hassle free and easy shopping experience.

Westwood Bazaar are champions of supporting their community, so they are creating jobs locally, working with local businesses and boosting the economy right where it matters, in the heart of Oldham.

Foiz, Director of Westwood Bazaar, said: “We are innovating this industry, starting soon with the launch of our customer loyalty card.

"At the forefront will be our fair and competitive pricing, we are here to listen to our customers, make changes and provide a service that is of a high quality and standard."

For regular updates and promotions, follow Westwood Bazaar on Facebook and Instagram.

They are open 7 days a week, 9am-7pm apart from Sunday, when they are open 10am-7pm.
